Introduction to Our ISI Inspection Report – June 2025
At Carleton House Preparatory School, we are dedicated to providing the highest standards of education and care for every child. To ensure we consistently meet these standards, we undergo regular inspections by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), a Department for Education appointed body that monitors independent schools to ensure they provide a safe, enriching and high-quality learning environment.
Our most recent ISI inspection took place in June 2025. Inspectors spent two and a half days observing lessons, meeting pupils and staff, and reviewing the quality of education, safeguarding, welfare and leadership. Their report celebrates the many strengths of our school and the outstanding experiences we provide for our pupils.
Key Highlights from the Report
“Pupils demonstrate kindness in their interactions and behave in a calm and supportive manner towards each other.”
“Pupils are motivated and responsible towards their learning, listen attentively, ask thoughtful questions and make consistently good progress across the curriculum.”
“Children in the early years make good progress academically and pastorally and are prepared well for the next stage of their education.”
“Teachers have secure subject knowledge, plan interesting lessons and use effective teaching methods so that pupils extend their understanding.
“Leaders promote pupils’ understanding of moral responsibility so that pupils contribute to the school’s supportive, respectful and inclusive environment.”
“Pupils develop a broad and inclusive understanding of the wider world so that they are prepared well for life in British and global society.”
“Leaders implement an effective assessment framework so that teachers carefully track and monitor the progress that pupils make. Leaders analyse assessment information and adapt the curriculum and teaching provision so that pupils’ needs are supported appropriately. For example, teachers provide additional challenge sessions for older pupils preparing for senior school entrance examinations.”
Inspectors praised the school’s inclusive ethos, warm relationships and rich curriculum which stimulates curiosity and creativity. Pupils benefit from exciting cross-curricular projects, a wide range of clubs and activities, and thoughtful opportunities for spiritual growth and cultural understanding. The report reflects the high expectations, nurturing environment and inspiring teaching that enable our children to flourish both academically and personally.
This outstanding feedback is a testament to the dedication of our staff, the support of our parents and governors, and the enthusiasm and talents of our pupils.
We are immensely proud of this recognition and invite you to read the full ISI report to see how Carleton House continues to provide an exceptional education and a caring, vibrant community where every child thrives.
