Welcome - Head Boy and Head Girl

Welcome from Dean, Our Head Boy

Hello and welcome to Carleton House Preparatory School!

At Carleton House, we are more than just a school—we’re a close-knit community where everyone knows and supports one another. Being part of this big, happy family is something I truly cherish.

Our school offers so many amazing opportunities, both in and out of the classroom. We have a wide range of extracurricular clubs, and one of my favourites is the sports club, where my friends and I play lots of different games. Other activities include netball, judo, fencing, archery, and dance. Over the years, I’ve also enjoyed cooking, cross-stitch, coding, and debate club—there’s something for everyone!

Sports play a big role at Carleton House. Through the Liverpool School Sports Partnership (LSSP), we get to compete in events like football, dodgeball, swimming, volleyball, and tennis. Everyone gets a chance to represent the school, which makes it fair and exciting. I’m proud to be part of the school football team, led by Mr Finch, where boys and girls play together. Last year, we even won the league!

Our cross-country team, led by Mr Griffies, trains at Calderstones Park, and we take part in citywide competitions. Athletics is another highlight, with events like the high jump and relay races. The best part of the year is our sports day, where we compete in house colours. Last year, my house, Wills (yellow), won—it was such a proud moment!

From Year 3 onwards, we also go on residential trips. These are packed with fun outdoor activities like ziplining, kayaking, orienteering, and abseiling. My favourite was grass sledding during our trip to Willersley Castle—it was such a memorable experience with my friends.

In the classroom, we work hard and enjoy learning new things. Two of my favourite subjects are Maths and Science. In Maths, we tackle tricky problems and puzzles, and on Fridays, we sometimes play fun games like Tarsia puzzles. In Science, we’re currently learning about the human body, including the circulatory system and the importance of a balanced diet—it’s fascinating!

Carleton House is a special place where we make lifelong memories, form lasting friendships, and are inspired to do our best. I hope you enjoy exploring our school and seeing everything that makes it so wonderful.

Thank you for visiting!

A Warm Welcome from our Head Girl Anna

Hello, and welcome to Carleton House Preparatory School!

It’s a pleasure to introduce you to some of the wonderful opportunities and experiences that make our school so special.

One of the things I love most about Carleton House is our creative lessons, especially in art. We’ve explored a variety of techniques and learned about inspiring artists like Rousseau and Lowry. Design and Technology (DT) is another favourite of mine. We recently had a dedicated DT Week, where each year group created their own exciting models – it was so much fun!

Music is also a big part of life here. Every pupil has the chance to learn an instrument with the amazing teachers from Pulse, who also run our school orchestra. We can develop our skills further with music theory and aptitude preparation for secondary school. On top of that, we enjoy musical drama and singing, and our choir performs at the incredible Young Voices event in Manchester Arena every year.

Carleton House encourages us to take responsibility and develop as leaders. Our School Council includes representatives from Year 2 all the way to Year 6. In Year 6, we’re given extra responsibilities, such as becoming Head Boy or Girl, House Captains, or prefects. These roles help us grow in confidence and teamwork.

None of this would be possible without our dedicated and inspiring teachers, who support us every step of the way. They truly make Carleton House a fantastic place to learn, grow, and thrive.

I’ve loved every moment of my time here and will cherish these memories forever. Thank you for visiting our website – I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about our school!
