Our Governing Body
The Governing Body plays a vital role in the strategic leadership and management of our school. Comprising dedicated professionals from diverse backgrounds, our governors bring a wealth of expertise to ensure the school’s continued growth and success.
Each governor takes on specific responsibilities, from overseeing finances and safeguarding to curriculum development and staff appraisal. Together, they work collaboratively to uphold the highest standards of education and wellbeing for our pupils.

Lynsey MorrisonAppointed Governor, Chair of Governors, Chair of Pay and Appraisal, Building and Finance
Lynsey Morrison
Lynsey Morrison has served on the CHPS board of Governors since 2022, holding the Chair of Governors position since 2024. As a graduate of the University of Liverpool, Lynsey continued her education in the workplace training as a Chartered Accountant. As a Fellow of the ICAEW, with over 20 years experience in the corporate sector, followed by 15 years in industry running her own businesses, Lynsey has leant both her financial skills and business acumen to assist in the schools strategic decision making.

Sean HegartyAppointed Governor, Vice Chair of Governors, Building and Finance
Sean Hegarty
Sean Hegarty is currently Global lead for Fraud and Financial Crime for JPMC's International Consumer Bank with over 25 years of financial services experience globally. Sean has ben with JP Morgan for 9 years.
Prior to joining JP Morgan, Sean was Global Head of Fraud Strategy for Barclays Corporate Banking Division and held a number of senior leadership positions at GE Capital (Head of Fraud for Global Banking, and heading up the fraud teams in Europe, LATAM and Asia throughout his 10 years at GE Capital)
Sean is a graduate of the University of Liverpool with an LLB.in Law, and is a qualified Accountant (ACA) having trained with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Audit and Forensic Accounting.

John BurnsAppointed Governor, Chair of Building and Finance
John Burns
Mr John Burns has served on the Carleton House Preparatory School Board of Governors for over 6 years, currently holding the position of Chair of Building and Finance since 2019.
John holds the position of Company Director in several companies in the Construction, Building and redevelopment sector. As a Property Developer and Landlord his knowledge and experience in the building and finance sector has been established over 3 decades.
John has significantly contributed to the schools fundraising and loves to support the school as much as he can.

Christopher HarrisonAppointed Governor, Chair of Building and Finance
Christopher Harrison
Christopher Harrison has been a member of the Board of Governors since September 2022 and took on the role of Chair of Finance in July 2023.He began his career in investment banking as a specialist analyst on the equity derivatives desk, working in a highly regulated environment. In 2005, he retrained as a Chartered Surveyor and now operates his own RICS-regulated practice. His professional experience emphasizes adherence to high standards, robust decision-making processes, and ongoing professional development under the RICS membership framework.

Thomas ManningAppointed Governor, Curriculum and Safeguarding, Pay and Appraisal
Thomas Manning
Tom Manning has served on the Carleton House Preparatory School Board of Governors for most of the last 20 years. He is a retired secondary school teacher and he continues to work as a senior examiner for several UK examination boards. Mr Manning has acted as secretary to the board in the past and serves on the appointments and curriculum and safeguarding committees. He has also served extended periods as a governor at two other local schools. -
Charlotte HolguinAppointed Governor, Chair of Curriculum and Safeguarding
Charlotte Holguin
Charlotte Holguin has served on the Carleton House Preparatory School board of Governors since 2021, currently holding the position of Safeguarding Governor since 2023. As a criminal law barrister, Charlotte has leant her skills to ensuring the highest level of regulatory and ethical compliance with safeguarding children and staff within the school as well as contributing to the strategic decision making of the governing body. -
Elaine CzarneckiAppointed Governor, Pay and Appraisal
Elaine Czarnecki
Elaine brings a strong blend of commercial and educational experience to the governing body. She spent a few years working in the print industry, gaining extensive commercial insight before taking time out to raise her family. Following this, she completed her teaching degree and went on to work as a primary school teacher, also taking on the role of Maths Coordinator.She initially joined the CHPS Board of Governors in 2015, later becoming Vice Chair. Although her children have since left the school, she has continued her dedicated involvement as a governor. A passionate advocate for CHPS, Elaine draws on her diverse background to support the school’s strategic direction and uphold its values. -
Janet RobinsonAppointed Governor, Curriculum and Safeguarding
Janet Robinson
Mrs Robinson joined the Carleton House Governing Body in July 2023, her association with the school, however, began when she became a member of the teaching staff in 2001.
Prior to this, Mrs Robinson had trained as a middle school teacher in Newcastle Upon Tyne and had senior pastoral positions in secondary schools before moving into primary education whilst bringing up her family of 8.
Her main areas of expertise lay in maths and the sciences with a special interest in the dramatic arts. Indeed, Mrs Robinson worked on many school productions and continues to do so even after retiring 7 years ago.
She is delighted to be able to serve the school in her new role and is contributing to the school's curriculum and safeguarding committee, where she hopes to use her 37 years of teaching experience to help further develop and shape the school's future.

Hilary NessAppointed Governor, Curriculum and Safeguarding
Hilary Ness
Mrs Hilary Ness began her association with Carleton House when her Granddaughter joined the school in Reception. She joined the Governing Body as a Curriculum and Safeguarding Governor in May 2025.
She previously enjoyed a 20 year teaching career after returning to full-time further education when her children started school. She gained a first degree in 1997 and then a Masters in 2004. She started her teaching career in Woolton and mostly taught Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 but also provided cover across Key Stage 2. For the whole of her teaching career she had co-ordinator responsibility for ICT and Design Technology from Reception to Year 6. Mrs Ness later took on the role of Assistant Head, at the same school, with responsibility for Special Needs and School Data. She took early retirement in 2017 but is looking forward to using her experience to support her fellow Governors, the School Head, staff and children at Carleton House.
